Ocean City is home to many tourists attractions. From waterparks to nature reserves, the city has been built on the tourist industry since its very inception in the Victorian era. Whether you’re visiting Maryland for work or pleasure, there is always something enjoyable for all ages and tastes, even if just on a day trip to Ocean City. In short, then, there are plenty of all-around fun things to do in Ocean City MD.

Among the most eye-catching attractions are the city’s beachside waterparks and theme parks. These exciting, family-friendly parks are designed for maximum enjoyment and come equipped with rides and features that will keep everyone happy. Whether you want to make waves at Splash Mountain or drink in the view on the Trimpers Ferris wheel, there’s something for everyone when staying in Ocean City Maryland. This blog will explore the theme and amusement parks that you’ll find in Ocean City, and what makes them stand out as the best in all of Maryland.

Trimpers Amusement Park

With one of the oldest carousels in the world spanning at 50 feet as its central attraction, Trimpers Amusement Park is one of the oldest amusements parks in America. Dating back to 1893, this theme park on the coast of South First Street is also home to a huge Ferris Wheel and more than 10 outdoor rides such as the Tidal Wave roller coaster and the stomach-churning Area 51 spinning coaster. The indoor area of Trimpers is focused more on smaller children and includes a collection of vintage kiddie rides, bumper cars and arcade-style shooting galleries.

Splash Mountain

Splash Mountain is a waterpark and part of two “Jolly Rogers” amusement parks in Ocean City. Here you’ll find 16 slides that cater to a range of ages, the most prominent of which is the Master Blaster, a self-described “water roller coaster” that gains so much momentum that it shoots you uphill as well as downhil. Further to this, splash mountain hosts the unique Stealth slide, essentially a halfpipe ramp that shoots riders down and then up on double or single tubes. Splash Mountain is located at 30th Street just off of the boardwalk.

Jolly Roger Amusement Park

The original park before its expansion into two separate areas, the Jolly Roger Amusement Park was built in 1964 with collaboration from professional golfer Arnold Palmer. The Jolly Roger Amusement Park was originally a putting course and driving range but developed into a theme park the following year with the addition of 10 rides. Nowadays, Jolly Roger is home to a looping roller coaster, bumper cars, amusement arcades and stalls as well as carnival games and street food stands.

Baja Amusements

Another exciting go-karting track just a few miles outside of Ocean City, Baja Amusements offers great value party packages as well as amusements and arcades on site. Featured amusements include a carousel, frog hopper drop ride and two separate climbing walls. An arcade and mini-golf course are also available on-site, offering a fun day out for all ages.

Frontier Town Theme Park

Located off Route 611 on your way out of Ocean City is the Frontier Town Wild West theme park. This replica 1880s’ city is adorned with lifelike saloon bars, rodeos and bank robbery, jailbreak and horseshoes. With shopping opportunities in the form of a sweet shop and leather store as well as ample parking, this great value Wild West-themed park is a tobacco-spitting gun-toting day out for all the family.
